The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Well, that's a mouth full. Anyway, I thought this book was pretty good. It's about a young girl named Hadley who has to go visit her father in London to attend his wedding. Only thing is, she doesn't want to go. She resents her dad for starting a new life, especially when they use to be so close. But her mom convinced her and now she's on her way. At the airport, she meets this cute guy, Oliver and they start talking and learning about each other and helping with each other's problems. Oh, and this all takes place within 24 hours.

So let me start off by saying I do NOT like love at first sight. I believe that people can have an attraction at first sight but not love. Thankfully, I wouldn't call what's in this book love at first sight. In fact, I'd say this book was more about Hadley and her father's relationship, not hers and Oliver's. I am a sucker for a father daughter relationship and it was so interesting to read about one that was not all that great but that was being improved upon. I liked the concept, and the relationships, and the way that the characters began to see things in a different point of view.

However, there were also things that could have been improved upon. One of these things was the characters. I felt like they weren't as developed as I would have liked them to be. The only real dynamic ones were Hadley, her father, and Oliver, but even then, I felt like I only knew their situation, not who they really were. All of the others were just there to play their part in moving the story along. Now, this book is actually really short, mainly because it all happens within 24 hours, so I guess there's only so much you can learn about a person in that time. Still, I didn't feel as connected as I should have been.

If you want something short and quick to read, check this book out, I think a lot of people would like it, it's just not that impressive. It's more of a light read, but I will say it did make me think about relationships I have with other people a lot more. 4 out of 5 stars.
