Well, this book was surprising. Okay so really quickly, this book is about a girl named Jessica who is in high school and lives a seemingly normal life. That is until a mysterious boy, Lucius, arrives in her town and claims that she is a vampire princess and he is her fiancee. Yup. Just thrown into her face like that. Well, basically, she doesn't want to marry him, but he won't go away. Now she must go through the next months living with him and trying to go about her daily life as if everything is completely normal even though, you know, vampire in her house.
I was not expecting this. So at first I thought this book would be a quick light read. I was WAY off. It was really addicting. It was also super angst ridden; a lot more than I like. The beginning really caught my attention and entertained me immensely, as did the end. There were a few passages that I just had to mark because there were just so meaningful to me. The middle part of the book lost my interest a little because it was so dramatic and too angsty for me.
It was definitely surprising because of how captivating it was but also because it wasn't a light hearted read. I must commend this book on its ability to get me to feel the pain and anguish that Jessica felt. It was slightly annoying at a turning point because it was slightly predictable but nevertheless enjoyable. I also liked the vampire aspect of this novel because they are the most human-like vampires I've ever read about and I found it super interesting to read this version of them. I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
