Okay, a week into the new year and I'm just now getting to the bookish things that I would like to complete this year. So let me start off by saying I'm so excited for this year for so many reasons. Books coming out are going to be amazing, movies coming out are going to be epic, and personally, this is going to be a huge years for me. So, let's talk about a few resolutions that have sit for myself in terms of reading.
The numbers challenge! How many books am I setting as my goal for this year? Not many, to be honest. My goal, as it has been for the past three years, is going to be to read 40 books. I know that this isn't a lot by some people's standards, and I've actually gone over this goal every year I've set it but I don't set a number goal to actually challenge myself. This number is just so I keep reading avidly. I don't want to get too caught up in the number of books I read or else I'll feel like I can only read short books or like I always have to be reading instead of doing other things for myself.
So, we all know I have a serious issue with starting series and not finishing them. It just happens all the time. This year, I want to finish all of the series that I only have one book left in. This means The Darkest Minds, The Grisha Series, Defiance, The Jessica Series, The Lunar Chronicles, and The 5th Wave Series will all be completed this year. This shouldn't be too hard since I really want to read the last book in many of these, it's just a matter actually buying them. Going along with the last goal, I want to get further in some of the other series that I have started. I may not necessarily complete these series, but I do want to make progress in them as the year goes on.
The last goal I have is to get back on top of the publishing world. A while ago, I was totally aware of all of the books that were coming out and I would read most of them, but I stopped doing that last year. I took last year off so I could read some books that were published a few years ago and I'm so glad I did that. I got to read so many books that were super popular when they came out but haven't been talked about since then and I really enjoyed them so much. But now I'm ready to get back onto the wagon and be up to date again. This also means that I am ready to read books that were published last year but I didn't read. This is going to be a great year for books and I'm really looking forward to it.
So, in terms of books that I"m looking forward to, I'll list a few off right now since I'm too lazy to make a full post about it. In no particular order we have: The Last Star by Rick Yancy, The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan, The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, and the fifth book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. There are obviously more books that I'm excited for but some of them are sequels to books that I haven't read yet so I have them marked but I can't say they are at the top of my list just yet. This is going to be a great year guys so I hope you stick around with me to see where this year takes us. See you next week.
