Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

You guys, this book. Was. Wow. So Obsidian is about a girl named Katy who moves from Florida to a small town in a state of which I cannot remember. Sorry. Anyway, she moves to this new place and ends up running into her neighbor-a totally hot guy that just so happens to be a total jerk. She ends up befriending his sister and finds out they're aliens (that's not a spoiler; it says so on the back of the book). Now Katy has to deal with her best friend being an alien and having to put up with her brother. Obviously, more than that happens but this is all I can tell you without spoiling the whole thing.

So I will be the first to say this book was really good. I found it completely entertaining from start to finish. It reads like a contemporary novel with some paranormal aspects. The characters totally made the story of this book. I loved Katy. She is kind of nerdy, she can stand up for herself, and, best of all, she's a book blogger like yours truly. It was so interesting reading about someone so much like me. Dee, her neighbor and best friend, is such a lovable character. She really wants to have friends and be a normal teenage girl, but doesn't deny what she is which was really refreshing to read. Daemon, the jerk of a neighbor, is a really interesting character because his motives, along with his personality, aren't really clear until further into the book so it definitely keeps you wondering.

This book is was ridiculously addicting. I finished this book within two days. Although this book is a super quick read, I would like to warn anyone who is interested in reading it. This book is not trying to be a serious book explaining the true meaning of humanity. You might be able to find a deeper meaning if you look for it, but that's really not the point of these books. I think this series, at least the first books, are just entertaining, addicting reads. Don't go into it expecting some huge insight on life, expect a really enjoyable book. 5 out of 5 stars.
