Warning: this book is beyond cheesy and cliche. And I loved it. I actually have a bit of a history with this book. It was first published on Wattpad, a website where anyone can post their own stories, and that's where I read this book for the first time. I was also very disappointed when this book was taken down because it was published because it was only available in e-book form and I don't have anyway to read e-books. Then, it was published in paperback! And here is my review. So we follow the life of a girl named Rochelle, Elle for short. She's pretty and somewhat popular. She also has a best friend named Lee, yes, it's a guy. Lee has a brother. Enter cliche one. His name is Noah, and Noah is a bad boy. Enter cliche two. There is also a school fair so Elle and Lee decide to run a kissing booth. Noah visits the booth. Elle is working the booth. Need I say more?
So yes, this book is ridiculously cheesy and cliche, in case you haven't already realized. That being said, if you go into this book not wanting to read something so cliche, you aren't going to like this book. At all. But, if you go into it wanting and expecting it to be kind of predictable, you'll enjoy it. It's obviously not a literary masterpiece, but this book isn't trying to be. The characters aren't too deep and complex but they are relatable and very much like actual high school students. I loved the friendship between Elle and Lee and the relationship between Elle and Noah despite the predictability of it.
This book isn't for everyone but if you go into it knowing what to expect and wanting to read something like this, I think you'll like it. I enjoyed it for what it is and it's a perfect light, summer read. You won't over think anything but it's very entertaining. 4 out of 5 stars.
