Recommending Middle Grade

So middle grade is a very interesting genre for me. It is the perfect age for a fun exciting adventure without the constant worry about character death. It is the perfect genre to read of you want a light hearted adventure as well as a somewhat deeper meaning. So here are some of my favorite middle grade book series (in no particular order) that I think children and adults can both enjoy.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
This is my all time favorite book series. For those of you who have been living under a rock and don't know what this book series is about, it's about a twelve year old boy named Percy who looks down on himself a lot. He has had many setbacks in his life and is close to giving up, and no, I don't mean suicide. But he finds out he is so much more important than he initially thought. Then we embark on an epic Greek mythology adventure. This series, along with it's continuation series,The Heros of Olympus, are fun books that follow Percy and his friends over the course of a couple years and it's perfect. The characters are some of the best developed one's I've read about and the plot is just as great. I recommend this book series to absolutely everyone.

The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
So, same author here. This book series is about a brother and a sister who grew up apart but have to come together in order to save the world. Oh, you need more of an explanation? Okay, this one revolves around Egyptian mythology but these two siblings don't know what their ties to it are. This trilogy is about them figuring out what their parents have been hiding from them along with their relationship. Again, action and adventure with kick butt characters.

The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins
Alright, everyone has herd about The Hunger Games, but who has read the Underland series by the same author? Not many. I already did a book review on the first book so I don't want to go into too much detail, but I will say it is an adventure book that really focuses on the two young protagonists. It is defiantly creepy at times but the characters make this book worth reading. Basically, Gregor and his two year old sister tumble into the Underland and have to find a way out but they end up finding out that they have a bit of a connection to the world.

Magisterium by Holly Back and Cassandra Clare
This is a newer book series, only one book is out at the moment, but it was a really good book. Again a fantasy adventure about a young boy who is thrown into a school of magic, essentially, and has to learn what the secrets of this world are and how to control his abilities. I found this book super entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next books in the series. Some of the characters have a great sense of humor and sarcasm is to be expected from Cassandra Clare, not matter what she is writing.

So these are not all of the middle grade books I've read, but I don't want this to be a very long post and I've been having internet troubles for a couple of weeks now so I also need this to be kind of short. But I so hope to read more middle grade books in the near future so maybe I'll update this on a later date. See you guys next week.
