Anna and the French Kiss Series Review

First of all, happy Halloween! I know this is late and it's barely considered Halloween where I live anymore, but, hey, better late than never. I know most people do a spooky books post, but I think it's a little late for me and I also don't read many spooky books, so there's that. Instead, I'll be doing a series review for the Anna and the French Kiss trilogy by Stephanie Perkins which, I know, most of you have already read, but I do want to give my two cents. So this is a series of three companion novels which all revolve around a relationship and typically last a while. Usually around a school year. Yeah. That's pretty much the series in a nut shell. And, just because this question comes up a lot, you can technically read them out of order but I don't recommend it just because it spoils some things and it will just give you a better insight on some relationships.

Now, I did a review for Anna and the French kiss a while ago so I will link that to you guys here but just to summarize, it was adorable. I loved Anna and St. Clair's relationship mainly because it is a prime example of being friends before getting romantically involved. It was for sure my favorite out of the series.

Lola and the Boy Next Door was pretty cool. It was unique for a number of different reasons. Lola was a lot more edgy than one would first think but I will say that Cricket was a bit of a push over sometimes. Their relationship was different in that they already knew each other pretty well before the book even began, which was refreshing. Lola's relationship with her parents, who are gay, was a real treat to read about. It was the book like that that I have ever read. These aspects did make the book a bit more original but it was lacking a lot in the rest of the originality.

Isla and the Happily Ever After was my least favorite out of the whole series because I think it was the most typical. Isla and Josh have a very fast paced relationship that I think was too fast. They get together early on in the book but I think they move way too fast. They hit all of the milestones in a relationship within a couple of months. They fall hard and fast but there's just something about them that I think is a bit juvenile. Like they're having fun but may or may not mean what they say to each other in the long run. I don't you guys, this book wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't my favorite. They also were very few other characters in this book that they focused on so I got annoyed by Isla sometimes. It was still cute and fun and happy, but it could have been better.

I think this series is a lot of fun to read, especially if you need something light but I do warn you, in my opinion, the first one was the best. But they were all good and each had something to make them more unique. I do wish that they intertwined better because they do but only in a few scenes. Overall, these books are super fun and light and I highly recommend them. Just know what you're getting into with each of them. 4 out of 5 stars.
